 Saguaro Spines as Record Player Needles

Hi - A friend who is into older (Victrola type) record players is looking for spines for the purpose; He'd heard that Saguaro spines are used for this (in addition to barrel cactus spines) - http://victrolagramophones.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=968 mentions both used for that purpose - Thanks for the museum :)
